The RAMSES SNO is organizing a new user school for the RAMSES code, aimed at PhD students, postdocs, engineers and faculty with an interest in computational astrophysics and numerical simulations.
Dates : 27-29 October 2026
Location : Observatoire Astronomique de Strasbourg,
11 rue de l’Universite, 67000 Strasbourg, France
Format : IN PERSON ONLY (no remote attendance, no Zoom)
Program:
- Quick refresher on numerical schemes for astrophysical plasmas
- Fundamentals of High Performance Computing (HPC)
- Compiling RAMSES for parallel use
- Hands-on project work: dense-core collapse, forced turbulence, idealized galaxies, cosmological volumes
Registration is free. The number of seats is limited to 14. No specific prerequisites are required beyond basic knowledge of physics and programming. Applicants must submit a brief description of their planned RAMSES project and a short summary of their numerical astrophysics experience.
Registration deadline: 15 September 2026
Training staff: Tine Colman, Maxime Trebitsch, Benoit Commercon, Yohan Dubois, Joakim Rosdahl, Pierre Ocvirk.
